This program just keeps an eye on your laptop's battery.
My laptop's instructions say that you should completely run the battery down every month and then recharge it again: this program shows you how much charge is left in the battery at any moment.
This program reminds you when you need to recalibrate your laptop's battery.

This is similar to the old pencil and paper game called Hangman but I thought that the name Boatman was a bit more pc.
This calculates what timer delay to program your bread machine with and when to press the Start button.
The main reason for this calculator being created was to enable calculation results to be copied to the clipboard, which you can't do with the Micrsoft calculator (at least you couldn't when I wrote it). So, having embarked on the project it seemed reasonable to provide other user-friendly facilities which are not available in Micrsoft's offering.

This program scans through all of the photos in a chosen directory looking for gaps or duplicates.
It assumes that they will be of the form DSCN1234.JPG or IMG_1234.JPG. It lists any files it finds which are duplicated in the sub directories or any gaps in the sequence numbers. If you have someone else's photos you might expect to find gaps because their numbers will be part of a different sequence or duplicates for the same reason. So, to avoid this you can specify to exclude directories which contain particular words or phrases. E.G. Brian's photos could be excluded by clicking File->Edit User Excluded List and adding your phrase; in this case: Brian.
Compares the contents of two directories.
You specify the two directories, click 'Go compare' and the program will list files in directory 'A' which are not in directory 'B', files in directory 'B' which are not in directory 'A' and files which are in directory 'A' and directory 'B'.
Quick launch window.
This program was born out of my personal dislike of loads of icon shortcuts all over the desktop. I like some uncluttered wallpaper.
Basically it is like a quick-launch window. You create a script file to define what items are in the window and then set a shortcut to the script file which you can put in your quick-launch bar.
This program synchronises files in one directory with those in a master directory. I use it once a week to back up my back up drive onto a drive which is only connected to the PC for the synchronisation.
This program enables you to leave your PC on for a while; perhaps while a backup is running or a virus check is in progress or something else boring which you don't want to watch.
It's fairly self-explanitary: just set the time when you want the machine to hibernate and click "Ok".
This program creates labels for each of your virtual desktops. When you install it check the "Add shortcut to Startup". When the program runs it asks how many desktop labels you want; enter that and click the "Ok" button. Then press the windows key and Tab and drag the labels to the appropriate desktop.
This can keep a record of the food in your freezer(s).
It has a help function but it's mostly self explanatory - just press the buttons which look as if they'll do what you want. Right click on the main pane for pop-up menu options and keyboard shortcuts. Right click on the Freezer name box for freezer maintenance: add a new freezer or whatever.

This program is intended to sort out a folder full of photos and videos into more manageable folders based on the date that the photos & videos were last modified (in the hope that that is also the date that the photo or video was taken).
This can keep a record of incontinence leakage.
There is no help; all you do is weigh the used pads, subtract the weight of a new pad, run the program and fill in the weights, date and time - then save the data and click 'Analyse' or, more simply press the Ctrl+S and then the Ctrl+A.

This is a version which can show the results in more ways than the original

This program is a Music player.
I must declare from the outset that I find Micrsoft's Media Player intensely irritating. I have transfered all of my CDs (and some of my LPs) to the hard drive on my PC but I don't listen to them from there; when we are on holiday we take the laptop so I have copied all the music to an external USB hard drive: I can take my music anywhere. ...and Micrsoft's Media Player or VLC or anything else I've tried doesn't handle external media well.

This program creates a new sub folder in your 'My Pictures' folder whose name is of the form: 'yyyy-mm-dd Some text of your choice'.
Alternatively you can have underscore characters instead of hyphens in the date part. Having the date in this form at the start of the new folder's name means that the folders are sorted chronologically if you sort on 'Name'. So, you get home from your holiday and create new folders for your holiday photos (all on the same day) but you can still sort them chronologically.
This program displays the time (and date) on a black background. The idea is that if you're in a hotel room with no clock you can leave your laptop on over night with this program runnning so that you can see the time should you wake up.

Mikesoft Picture Orientation Editor allows you to modify your photograph files to set the orientation in the file's EXIF data; if your camera or phone saves .jpg/Exif files. This makes sure that when you use 'Micrsoft Photos' or whatever to view a phone photo which might be reversed (mirror image) or upside down it will be displayed correctly. I might explain that my camera doesn't have an orientation detector so all of the photos are stored in landscape orientation (unless that camera sees a face in which case it turns it the right way up). The camer does have a "rotate Image" menu option but if I forget to do that before I upload them to my PC it's very irritating.
MikeSoft Picture Viewer allows you to view pictures easily and rapidly without the need for a paint program with all the performance overheads which that would entail. Also it is designed to have the minimum of clutter, so that you can enjoy the pictures as large as possible on your computer screen. All the normal windows odds and ends, status bars, menu bars, etc are replaced by keyboard shortcut keys or a pop-up menu.

This program is for geeks. Not those who are so geeky that they always type into a black window, the dreaded DOS box, just those who sometimes want to fiddle about renaming lots of files.
If you use Windows Explorer to rename a whole lot of files, you have to click on one of them then click again a bit later then type in your changes then press enter. This is very tedious for one file let alone several. ...and you end up opening some of the files because you are just a bit too quick with the second click.

This program will start your web browser with a list of tabs for a number of your favourite websites or anything else for that matter. E.g. You can start a list of spread sheets or documents or .... In other words any files which are associated with an app can be put into this list.
It's not just a stop clock - it does that but it also can be set up to beep periodically or it can be set up as an alarm clock ... and it shows the time of day.
This program gives you access to all the ASCII characters which don't feature on a normal keyboard without having to mess about with the Ctrl key and trying to remember the codes. All you have to do is click the appropriate button and then paste from the clipboard in the application where you want the character.
If you are going to install more Mikesoft programs then you might like to install the installer rather than messing about downloading it every time.
